I grew up in the NYC suburbs and graduated from University of Virginia with a BA in French in the late 80s. Then I bounced around doing customer service type phone work for several banks and mutual funds before going into teaching. I taught high school math for 6 years in the 1990s before returning to school to get a BA and an MA in Mathematics from the University of Maine. I currently teach math at Clatsop Community College in Oregon.
